Estimating Your Date of Delivery for Commissioned Jewelry
Once you have made a decision to place a commissioned jewelry order, the next step is to figure out when you need that jewelry delivered, or the earliest date that the jewelry can be delivered.
As a general rule, it is always best to order your jewelry 6 weeks prior to your drop dead date. Of course, if you are not concerned about meeting a date, then this topic is not relevant to you, except perhaps to be informative.
You will need the following:
- A Calendar
- Minimum 7 days transit time (USA, longer for Canada and other countries)
- 2-4 weeks fabrication time
- 1 week communication time for signed Commission Agreement
Please consider that these times are ESTIMATES only, and any snag in the process will add days to the delivery. Also, consider that Holidays and weekends are not considered transit time. I will always keep you informed as to how your project is coming along and try to keep the Date of Delivery on track.
Using the above estimates, lets give an example:
- Estimated DoD is October 28, 2011
- Count BACK one week for TRANSIT to October 21, 2011
- Count BACK 4 weeks for FABRICATION to September 23, 2011
- Count BACK 1 week for SIGNATURE AGREEMENT to September 16, 2011
- Submit Order on September 16, 2011 for anticipated Delivery Date of October 28, 2011
In MOST instances, the Date of Delivery will be much shorter, but I can not guarantee that due to the volume of orders I receive. I will always try to work with you to meet a DoD and it is my goal to meet every single order on time.
