Pricing Guidelines

How My Jewelry Is Priced

My artisan jewelry is priced competitively in today’s artisan jewelry market when compared to other artists who offer one of a kind wearable art. Some of the key points in determining my prices are:

  • Design
  • Skill and Technique
  • Cost of Materials and Sourcing
  • Labor
  • Other Overhead

The most important points (in my opinion) is understanding what hand crafted jewelry is —  as opposed to ‘manufactured’ jewelry or jewelry that is reproduced many times over. My jewelry is ‘one of a kind’ meaning that the jewelry piece is never duplicated, that you will own and treasure a unique piece of jewelry. For commissioned work, jewelry has been crafted just for you following your specifications, requirements and guidance. All my jewelry is unique.

Regardless of whether the piece is commissioned or purchased as an offered ‘one of a kind’ item, the process of the jewelry design is the same.

First, comes the inspiration, the idea, or the spark that ignites the creative process. Then comes some research, hunting for a specific gemstone that is obtainable and reasonable in cost. To explore the design possibilities, several sketches are completed. Often a prototype is produced to refine a technical process or work out a solution to a design challenge. Next, the actual fabrication begins, documenting the process as I work. Finally, the piece is put through my finishing process which may take days to complete.

When you consider the entire process, I am certain you will agree that my prices are reasonable, and perhaps even on the lower end of the price point scale. My love of this craft inspires me to share it with folks who appreciate the art and craftsmanship that goes into my jewelry, Wired For You. To that end, I do my best to remain competitive and affordable in today’s economic times.
